Our Story
Well, we spent several more months of emails, chats and phone calls, before i finally decided to travel to Hong Kong to finally meet this young woman that i had fallen in love with. I was kinda worried about how we would be together but i needn't have been. We spent a fantastic week finally realising our love for each other. Since then, I have been back again and now it is July 1999 and Gerry is finally over here in the UK to visit me. We are currently making plans and saving up for our wedding, which will be on January 29th, 2000. Well, thats my story so far. From one chance meeting with someone 6,500 miles away, my life has changed imeasurably for the better and i have found someone that i can share the rest of my life with.

One hot, boring August evening, I decided to log on the
Internet, I have just discovered ICQ not long ago, and this has been a
favorite past time. That evening, I received a message from a stranger
who said, ''Hi, would you like to chat with a nice guy from England?''
and I thought, “Nice huh? Ok, this I gotta see.” Little did I know
that that would be the beginning of a wonderful friendship. Martin was
so unlike the weirdo's I’ve met during my voyages in cyberspace. He was
sweet, sensitive and sincere. After our first chat, we decided to meet
again the next Sunday at 8:00 p.m. HK time, (seven hours ahead of UK time),
and then every Sunday from then on, and he never missed a date. As
the months went by I realized that this gentleman is genuine and special,
and so I decided to ask him to be my boyfriend. Not a very “Maria Clara”
(Filipino character who epitomizes the ideal Filipina) thing to do, but
I can’t let this one get away.
Martin's been to Hong Kong, just to see me, twice, imagine
the logistics on that. He “finally” popped the question on his second visit
and without hesitation, accepted his proposal. Since then I’ve been to
Derby to meet his wonderful family.
These past eleven months have been the best. When I look
back to that August evening, I realize how far Martin and I have gone,
and how much more is ahead of us. We're now in the middle of organizing
our wedding. Six more months and I'll be Mrs. Martin Lawrence, and that's
something more to look forward to.
